In the midst of a war zone, Maya Terro drives around Beirut with a team of volunteers, distributing essential supplies to those affected by Israel’s military assault. “Living in a war zone is a daily struggle,” she says, reflecting on the uncertainty they face navigating dangerous routes, “sometimes you just get in your car and you don’t know if you’ll come back.”
With 1.2 million people displaced and the Lebanese government unable to provide support, volunteers like Maya – many of whom are displaced themselves – are stepping up to fill the gaps.
As Israel intensifies its bombardment of Lebanon, Close Up follows Maya and her team of volunteers as they risk their lives to feed those displaced across the country.
