Protests erupt in Israel after captive killed in northern Gaza

Protests erupted in Tel Aviv as families of Israeli captives demanded a ceasefire deal in Gaza for their release. This followed a Hamas statement claiming a female captive had been killed and another critically injured in an Israeli attack on northern Gaza. The Israeli military acknowledged the incident and promised an investigation. Prime Minister Netanyahu, who was involved in scandals, avoided the issue in his statement. The defence minister denied restricting negotiation efforts, which have stalled. Families have appealed to US President-elect Donald Trump for intervention, hoping he can pressure Netanyahu.
