For 14 months, central Gaza schools have housed displaced Palestinians, with shelters severely overcrowded. UNRWA’s Louise Wateridge highlighted dire conditions in Deir el-Balah, where 65,000 people rely on limited resources. Clean drinking water is unavailable, and supplies like blankets, food, and medical essentials are nearly depleted. An 85-year-old woman survives on bread, while malnourished children receive only basic vitamins. Disease spreads rapidly in unsanitary shelters plagued by pests. With 70% of medical supplies gone and rising displacements, Gaza faces a humanitarian crisis of inhumane proportions.

Al Jazeera's Hani Mahmoud reports from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
