Gaza: ‘If we don’t die from the war, we will die from hunger’

Footage shows large crowds gathering outside a bakery in Deir al-Balah, a city in central Gaza, as the price of basic food items have become unaffordable for many Palestinians amid Israel's restrictions on produce entering the strip.

“If we don't die from the war, we will die from hunger,” says Khalil Al-Shannar, a displaced Palestinian man from Jabaliya, as he tried to get food for the 14 members of his family.

Reuters analysis earlier this month of official Israeli data showed that the flow of goods into the Palestinian territory is at its lowest level since the start of the war.

As a bill makes its way through the Israeli Knesset that is designed to make it impossible for the UN relief and works agency for Palestinians to operate in Gaza and West Bank, the question of how to channel aid to the estimated 2.3 million people in Gaza will become even more acute.
