French President Emmanuel Macron has named a centrist ally as prime minister, as he tries to end a months-long political crisis. Francois Bayrou is the fourth person to hold the post this year. His appointment comes just over a week after Michel Barnier was ousted by parliament in a no-confidence vote, following a standoff over an austerity budget.
